This week I found an article talking about alerts letting people know they are downloading an item illegally are being warned against doing so. These alerts are going to be increased to people pirating these files, violating the copyright law that the user has the right to create and distribute these copies. These people downloading torrents are not doing this with their permission. These alerts, I think, are much better than taking actual legal actions against some smaller person or company that may be using the court to bring down an enormous fine on people that are unable to afford it. These warnings also help to point to ways that people can then use different means of getting this content legally and are just little notifications. I think that this will be laughed off by most, it may make them a little more worried or paranoid of legal action, but they will still take the benefit of free downloads over costly records or streaming services.
